Fathom.video is a popular meeting recording tool, but it had one major limitation: no way to bulk export transcripts. Users with hundreds of meetings had to click through each one individually to download. For consultants, researchers, and teams managing multiple accounts, this was a massive time sink.

My first version was a web scraping tool that literally automated screen clicks to export transcripts. It worked, and I posted about it on LinkedIn. A few days later, a senior project manager at Fathom reached out. Technically I was breaking their terms of service, but instead of sending a cease and desist, they told me about a new API they were building. They gave me beta access before the official launch, let me rebuild the extension the right way, and never asked for contracts or payment. The Fathom team was genuinely awesome about the whole thing.

I rebranded to TranscriptExporter and rebuilt everything using their official API. OAuth 2.0 authentication, no third-party servers, everything stays between you and Fathom. The API partnership opened up features that weren't possible with scraping.

Version 3.2 adds multi-account support, which was a highly requested feature. Consultants and agencies often manage multiple Fathom accounts for different clients. Now they can switch between accounts seamlessly, with the extension auto-detecting when you're browsing with a different account and prompting reconnection.

Team exports got a major upgrade too. You can export transcripts from specific internal teams or specific recorders within your organization. Combined with keyword and date range filtering, you can pull exactly the meetings you need.

Performance is solid: 25 meetings export in about 30 seconds, 100 meetings in 2 minutes, and even 1500+ meetings complete in around 25 minutes. Exports come as individual TXT files or a single combined ZIP, organized by meeting title and date.
