TranscriptExporter is a suite of three independent Chrome extensions that solve the same problem across different meeting recording platforms: there's no native way to bulk export your transcripts. If you have hundreds of recorded meetings in Fathom, Fireflies, or Zoom, you're stuck downloading them one at a time. TranscriptExporter fixes that.
It started with Fathom. My first version was a scrappy web scraping tool that automated screen clicks to export transcripts. I posted about it on LinkedIn, and a few days later a senior project manager at Fathom reached out. Technically I was breaking their terms of service, but instead of sending a cease and desist, they told me about a new API they were building. They gave me beta access before the official launch, let me rebuild the extension the right way, and never asked for contracts or payment. The Fathom team was genuinely awesome about the whole thing.
I rebuilt the Fathom extension from scratch using their official API. OAuth 2.0 authentication, no third-party servers — everything stays between you and Fathom. The API partnership opened up features that weren't possible with scraping: multi-account support for consultants managing multiple clients, team-specific exports, and recorder-specific filtering.
After Fathom took off, I saw the same gap in Fireflies.ai and Zoom. Each platform required a different technical approach since they don't all offer the same API access.
The Fathom extension connects directly through their official API with OAuth 2.0. The Fireflies extension works by automating the export process through their web interface, handling pagination and rate limiting to avoid overwhelming their servers. The Zoom extension integrates with the Zoom web portal, navigating their recording states (processing, available, etc.) and handling pagination for users with extensive meeting histories.
All three extensions share the same core architecture: Manifest V3, date range and keyword filtering, individual TXT files or combined ZIP output, and meeting metadata (title, date, participants) included with every export. But each one is tailored to its platform's specific quirks and capabilities.
The Fathom version is the most feature-rich since it has full API access. Version 3.2 added multi-account support — consultants and agencies can switch between accounts seamlessly, with auto-detection when you're browsing with a different account. Team exports let you pull transcripts from specific internal teams or individual recorders.
Performance on the Fathom extension: 25 meetings export in about 30 seconds, 100 meetings in 2 minutes, and even 1,500+ meetings complete in around 25 minutes.
The Fathom and Fireflies extensions are both live on the Chrome Web Store. The Zoom extension is coming soon.
